What happened on the 4th of May?

During the recent raids of the Belgian police 14 people were summoned and 3 arrested by the prosecutor and one of them is the world renown stand-up comedian Manu Moreau. All are members of Cannabis Social Club Trekt Uw Plant and stand accused of dealing in cannabis and money laundering.

Cannabis Social Clubs under attack in Belgium

Saturday 4th of May at 6.00 am some Flemish anti-prohibitionist activists were raided & arrested. Among them the president Mambo Social Club in the city of Hasselt, Michel Degens, and some members of Trekt Uw Plant, (Grow your Plant), founded in 2006 by the renown drug-activist Joep Oomen. They are all accused of money laundering for their activities of production and distribution to the 400 members of the Antwerp club from where similar initiatives have sprung-up all over Europe.

Cannabis Social Clubs are associations of citizens who organise the cultivation of a limited amount of cannabis to satisfy their personal needs. They establish a closed circuit of production, distribution and consumption in agreement with legal standards that are valid in their country.

Code of Conduct for European Cannabis Social Clubs

Herewith Encod presents a code of conduct for European Cannabis Social Clubs. This code has been elaborated by Encod members in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. Some of them are currently involved in Cannabis Social Clubs that operate legally in their country, others are involved in the preparation of CSC’s that will be established once the legislation on cultivation of cannabis for personal use allows for this.
